The Legacy of a Faithful Woman

Pastor Lee Cummings
May 10, 2026 Message Recap

From the very beginning of Scripture, we see a powerful truth: some of the greatest influences are often the quietest ones.

Our culture celebrates people who carry loud influence, but heaven values something different.

God sees the quiet faithfulness of women who shape generations through prayer, love, and everyday obedience.

In the Bible, Paul reminds Timothy that his faith didn’t start with him. It first lived in his grandmother Lois, then in his mother Eunice, and in Timothy himself.

Their faith was passed down through everyday acts of obedience—prayers, living out everyday faithfulness, teaching Scripture, etc.

Timothy grew up in a divided home. His father worshiped idols, but his mother and grandmother faithfully taught him the ways of God. Because of their discipleship in his life, Timothy became a strong disciple before Paul ever met him.

Their faithfulness impacted not only Timothy but entire churches and future generations that would follow him.

Faith was never meant to stop with one generation: God designed it to grow and continue through families and communities.

Throughout history, many women have carried deep spiritual influence without public recognition.

But even when people overlook it, God never does.

God sees:

  • the mother praying late at night for her child,

  • the grandmother faithfully interceding for her family,

  • the spiritual mother encouraging younger women in the church.

The most important places of influence are not always stages or pulpits. Sometimes they are kitchen tables, bedrooms, living rooms, and quiet conversations.

These moments may seem small, but heaven sees them as significant.

Spiritual influence often happens in simple moments, like worship music playing while making dinner, praying with children before bed, choosing faith in difficult seasons, and showing others what trusting God looks like.

These everyday moments create an atmosphere of faith that shapes families for generations to come.

Susanna Wesley is a powerful example of this. She raised children during hardship and suffering, yet faithfully created a home that pursued God.

Two of her sons, John and Charles Wesley, later led one of the greatest spiritual awakenings, changing millions of lives.

The world remembers their names, but their ministry was deeply shaped by their mother's faithful influence.

Women—mothers, grandmothers, and spiritual mothers—carry faith from one generation to the next.

This work matters deeply. The enemy may whisper lies like, “You’re not making a difference,” or, “Your prayers don’t matter,” but those lies are not true.

Heaven celebrates faithful women. Families are strengthened because of them. Generations are changed because of their persistent prayer and faithfulness.

Your influence may feel ordinary today, and much of it may go unseen, but God sees every prayer.

The legacy you are building now may impact children, grandchildren, and generations you will never meet.

That is not small—that is eternal.
