SEEK: 10 Days of Prayer & Fasting

September 12-21, 2019

Dedicating specific periods of time to seek the Lord through prayer and fasting as a church family is something we value and prioritize at Radiant Church. This September, we will be devoting 10 days to a special time of focused corporate prayer, fasting and worship. We invite you to go before the Lord in prayer and ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and direction for how you can participate in this 10-day fast.

Our next 10 days of prayer and fasting will run from September 12-21. We will be kicking off Seek with a service on Wednesday, September 11 at our Richland campus. We will be joined by guest speaker Corey Russell, and service will begin at 6:30PM.

What is Fasting?

Fasting is an invitation from the Lord for us to intentionally minimize distractions and normal routines in our everyday lives so that we can better hear His voice. When we turn down the volume in our day-to-day lives, it has the supernatural effect of turning up the volume of God's voice to our spirits.

There is not a right or a wrong way to fast. Fasting is a spiritual discipline meant to sensitize us so that we can engage with God in a heightened way. Therefore, fasting may look very different for many of us. Fasting most commonly looks like abstaining from food, but it's not limited only to that discipline. Depending on many factors, you may choose to fast in alternate ways. Here are some of the most common fasts people participate in:

Common Fasts

  • Water Fast: Abstaining from all forms of food and drink other than water.

  • Juice Fast: Abstaining from all solid food, and only drinking juice and water.

  • Daniel Fast: Eating only vegetables and abstaining from meats, sweets, etc.

  • Selective Meal Fasting: Abstaining from certain meals and snacks throughout the day and only eating a reduced amount during a single designated mealtime.

  • Media Fast: Abstaining from the normal routine of entertainment, social media, etc.

Regardless of the type of fast you choose to participate in during Seek, it's important to pray about what God is leading you to do, as well as consult a doctor and educate yourself if you have any questions or health concerns.

Throughout this 10-day period, we will be hosting daily prayer meetings. Scripture teaches us that something unique and powerful happens when believers gather together in faith to seek God and cry out to Him with one voice.
